Gauteng e-Recruitment: applying online

Many Gauteng government posts are applied for online, through the Gauteng Provincial Government, as its Professional Job Centre's e-Recruitment system. This page explains how that works and which open posts use it.

Open the official portal: professionaljobcentre.gpg.gov.za

GovPosts is not the portal and is not part of government. You cannot apply here: applications go to the portal, or to the department, exactly as each advert says.

What the portal is

It is the province's own online application system. The departments that use it say so in their adverts in the DPSA Public Service Vacancy Circular, in words like these:

"To apply for the below positions, please submit your application online at http://professionaljobcentre.gpg.gov.za" — Circular 32 of 2026

The address above is the one the circular prints. If a link sent to you by anyone else looks different, use the one in the advert instead; no government post ever charges a fee.

How applying through it works

  1. Find the post first, in the circular or on this site, and note its reference number and closing date.
  2. Register on the portal and complete your profile. The portal's own instructions govern every step.
  3. Attach what the advert asks for. The new Z83, quoting the post's reference number, with the CV and documents the advert lists. At least one Gauteng department also accepts the same application by email, at the address in its advert.
  4. Submit before the closing date, and keep any confirmation the system gives you.

Not every Gauteng department applies online only. Read the APPLICATIONS line of each advert: it names the channel, and an application sent another way may not be considered.

The Z83 guide covers the form itself, section by section, and how to apply covers the rest of the process.
