About
What this site is
govposts is an independent index of the DPSA Public Service Vacancy Circular — the weekly document that lists every advertised post in the South African public service. It exists so that finding a job in it does not mean reading a 300-page PDF.
What it is not
- It is not a government site. It is not affiliated with the Department of Public Service and Administration, or with any national or provincial department. Nothing here is an official publication.
- It does not receive applications. Every application goes to the department named in the advert, by the method that advert states. We never see it.
- It never asks for payment. No government post charges an application fee, and neither do we. If anyone asks you to pay to apply for a public service post, that is a scam — see the job scams section of the guide.
- It does not sell or share your details. The only personal information it holds is what you type in yourself: an email address for alerts, or an account you created. The privacy notice lists all of it.
Where the data comes from
Every post is extracted from the official circular, which is published weekly by the DPSA. The circular is the only authoritative source, and the original PDF is linked from every job page at the page the post was printed on — so any figure here can be checked against the document itself in one click.
Where the circular does not state something — a closing time, a salary, a reference number — this site says “Not stated in circular” rather than guessing. Nothing is inferred, averaged or filled in.
Currently indexed: Circular 39 of 2026 , issued Friday 30 October 2026 — 1159 posts still open. Every issue processed.
Who runs it
govposts is built and run by Nico Fortuin, who is also the information officer for the purposes of POPIA. Questions, corrections and data requests go to privacy@govposts.co.za, and security reports to the address in security.txt.
If you find a post on this site that does not match the circular, tell us — that is the one bug that matters here, and it gets fixed the day it is reported.
What it costs
Nothing. There is no fee, no subscription, no advertising and no paywall; you do not need an account to search, to read a post, or to open the original PDF. An account only saves posts across devices, and email alerts only send the new posts matching a search you saved.
